Banquets and awards ceremony
Westside Wrestling wrapped up it's first season with a banquet on Monday night September 12. Check the Photo section for some great pictures of the event. Most of the wrestlers and many of their family members and friends showed up, there were about 40 people in attendence. Our club secretary, Robin, did a great job organizing the banquet and awards ceremony. We gathered in the Wrestling room at the Waimea Baptist Church at about 6PM. We enjoyed pizza, pasta and salads. Robin layed out pictures from the season on one of the tables, everyone enjoyed the pictures and were encouraged to take any they wanted. Pastor james led us in prayer before we ate.
After eating we gathered in the sanctuary and watched a video summary of the season. The video had highlights from all the clinics, practices, car wash, the Aloha State Games tournament and the entire tournament at Waimea High School on August 27. After watching the video, all the wrestlers who competed in the tournament were given certificates of achievement acknowledging them as "Tournament Wrestlers". Coach's Ed and Rich were given framed pictures from the season as was team captain Jojo. All the wrestlers signed a big card and gave it to coach Mac. Coach mac also was given a statue of turtles with a mahalo inscription. The banquet was a great time for eveyone to reflect on a wonderful first season. All the wrestlers were asking: "When do we wrestle again?"
